Thanksgiving.........

THANKSGIVING IN AUSTRALIA
Thanksgiving is essentially a harvest related festival. It celebrates communal harmony. Though it is said to have been originated in America, a number of other countries celebrate harvest related festivals. They are observed with different names and in different seasons.
My research country is Australia; Australians don't celebrate Thanksgiving in the same sense as Americans. They have a national day of Thanks, in which you thank others and God for that which you are, well, thankful for. However, Australia is a country/ founded to house convicts. They never had to survive a harsh winter (even in the south the winter is still quite warm compared to Mass.) and they never held a specific religious conviction to forming their own country - it was simply easier to stay there after they had finished their term of punishment. Thus, they don't celebrate

Thanksgiving in way that one would suspect.Australia celebrates family, both past and present during their thanksgiving. It occurs in March for 3 or 4 days and has both a cultural and fun events such as grape crushing competitions, street carnivals, parades, fireworks display and ends with the crowning of 'apple n grape ambassador'.
Many Australians enjoy a traditional roast turkey, duck or chicken, and roast ham or honey-glazed ham is popular. This may be cooked in an oven, or on the "Weber" barbeque outside, along with roast potatoes, pumpkin and other trimmings.
